NFS Hot Pursuit Car Profiles: Alfa 8C Competizione

2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
So I finally got my hands on the highest rated racing game of 2010: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Limited Edition. There are over 65 cars in the game, with a couple of exclusive racer cars for the limited edition of the game. Here's one of them that I test drove: the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. If you were displeased about the absence of Ferrari, get ready to be happy, because this car is everything you love about a Ferrari and more.

Car = Art
First off, its gorgeous to look at. It's taken Alfa Romeo a good 7 years to perfect this car. Early this year, they released this car for over $200,000 with only 500 examples made. No wonder it's exclusive to the racers. This may be an Alfa Romeo, but remove the body, and you have the chassis of a Maserati GranTurismo, which you can also drive in the game. It's engine is a Ferrari built 4.7-liter 444 horsepower V8 engine with 350 lb-ft. of torque. It will reach 60 MPH from a standstill in 4.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 182 MPH. Add a full tank of nitrous and you'll be speeding at 203 MPH.  So, this is a very fast and very exclusive Italian artsy car, but is the handling equally as good?

Seacrest County Cruise
In 3 words: not so much. Even though all the cars in this game are able to drift, Criterion Games managed to make the drifts a little bit realistic. When drifting and turning in this car, it feels really rigid. You need to hammer the controls in order to carry out a perfect drift. Even if you do a perfect one, it's hard to maintain it. But, everything changes when you exit the drift and put the hammer down. The massive Ferrari engine wakes up and you'll start to fly down the straightways.

So, its a brilliant looking car, but performance wise, I think you're better off with a Maserati GranTurismo, of which I will test later. But, with all this power and smashing good looks, this car might look good in a Exotic Car museum, because its just beautiful! You'll be able to drive this car as a racer (only limited edition) and a cop. Stay tuned! I'll have more car reviews and a full game review of Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit by the end of this week!
