Evasive Action!

2011 BMW 760li High Security
There are a lot of armored cars out there now that promise the best protection from fatal explosives and gunfire. However, BMW has recently come to the point that it's not only about the car; it's about the driver. They've recently created a clip showcasing some of their armored cars and clever evasive maneuvers when coming in contact with enemy fire. It is quite interesting. Take a look at it below.

Super Jag

2011 Jaguar XJ Sentinel
It seems that rich people are turning to armored cars for protection from thugs or terrorists. Luckily, Jaguar has joined the fray with their new XJ. They call it the Sentinel and even though it looks like a regular XJ, it has put on a lot of weight. It now weighs 7,275 lbs. That's over 3,000 lbs. more than its original weight. You won't be going very fast either. The original XJ with its 385 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine hit 60 from 0 in 5.4 seconds. The Sentinel does it in 9.7 seconds. It will still reach its top speed which is 121 MPH, but it will take a while to get there. Speed won't be important anyway. What is important is if this car can withstand anything the bad guys throw at it, and it can. Thanks to all that discreet Armor Plating, the XJ Sentinel can withstand 15kg of TNT explosives, B7 level explosives, and under floor grenade explosives. The windows are bulletproof so it can withstand machine-gun fire. The wheels are 19-inch Aleutian Alloy wheels which are much stronger than regular alloys. The car also features high-performance brakes, run-flat tires, full-restraint system, dual-stage driver and passenger front and side thoracic airbags, and side curtain airbags. So basically, what Jaguar has done is they've created a Tank with Luxury and Prestige. Prices start at over $100,000, making it available to very reach people or very important diplomats.

Land Rover 4 President!

2011 Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured
Now you might have seen the Knight XV, or "Canada's answer to the motoring industry" (Jeremy Clarkson), but you'll want to go into law when I tell you about this car. It may look like a regular Land Rover LR4, but trust me when I say that it isn't. Let me first give you some performance details on this car. It has a 5.0-liter 375 horsepower V8 engine. 0 to 60 is reached in a whopping 10.6 seconds. It's top speed is a 112 MPH. Sounds slow, doesn't it? The original LR4 can get from 0 to 60 in about 7 seconds, so this is definitely slow. The thing is though, it has to be since it will be carrying diplomats. This special Land Rover LR4 has taken on a lot of weight (1,100 added pounds to be exact) and this is all added steel, bulletproof doors, titanium-strong wheels, and bigger brakes. This all adds to the total weight which is now about 4 tons (7,800 lbs.). The output: it can withstand rapid gunfire for about 2 hours. Not only that. It will survive 33 lbs. of explosive dynamite. Its fuel tank is thick enough to survive any grenade explosives. So basically, this isn't an SUV anymore. It's a tank, a British tank. It will only be sold in the UK and only to very wealthy or important people. But, look on the bright side. Now you know what exactly Land Rover is capable of doing.
